As a community of gardeners, the Poway Valley Garden Club (PVGC) has a long history of reaching out to the community. One way has been through beautification projects such as the Rose Garden at Lake Poway and the many gardens we have planted and help care for at Old Poway Park. For many years, our outreach volunteers have provided fresh flowers to retirement homes, schools and other facilities. Our monthly programs, annual flower show and plant sales provide education as well as inspiration to the public. More recently, we have helped support school gardens through our newly formed PVGC Youth Garden Club and a garden therapy program at Sunshine Care.
As a group of passionate gardeners, we share, inspire and learn from one another. Growing as a gardener is one of the greatest benefits of belonging to PVGC, along with the lasting friendships formed along the way. This year we are looking for new ways to use our love of gardening and our creative ideas to make a difference in our community. After several successful years of fundraising, we have recently established an “Outreach Fund”. The purpose of the fund is to support projects in the community that align with our club’s objectives. We are looking for your ideas! It has been said, “Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together based on our love of gardening to make belonging to PVGC matter. As a vibrant club we have much to share!
We have an exciting year planned ahead, with lots of interesting programs and fun outings. We hope you enjoy another year of learning and growing together and, along the way, help make a difference in our community!
